Yes yes yes, I did it… no WE did it!! I’m going to be a mommy!!!

No kidding :)

I’m pregnant now for some 12 weeks.
Funny part of it… I didn’t realize it for at least 7 weeks!
I was tired, nausious, I thought it was the stress at work and on top of it fighting a flu, hahahahaha.
Due to this thought Kevin has decided to call it "Griepje" (lill flu), while we call it Beany, after his mother Bienie and because of his first pictures.
I couldn’t stand the smell or sight of meat (I should’ve known something was going on!!!)

Finally Bou and I thought, maybe it’s not just flu, maybe it’s something else..
So I did a test and it turned positive.
We contacted a local maternity center and because I wasn’t sure how long this was going on we had our first echo.
Download onze_kleine.pdf
It turned out to be 8 weeks and 4 days by that time.
It was soooo cool!! Looked just like a kidney bean and it allready had a heartbeat!! *swoon*
Sooooo decisions need to be made.
What kind of tests do I want to do and which not?
I decided I wanted to do the combination test (the other 2 tests have a higher risk for turning out in an abortion then the risk of it having down syndrom).
So the next Friday I went to the bloodclinic and they took 10(!!) vials of blood (bloody vampires) for all kind of tests, but now most importantly: 2 hormones and bloodsugar.

A week later I didn’t and don’t feel naucious any more (only some smells) and I can eat normally again. Still very tired, especially after meals I just fall a sleep.

And today was a big day for team B3 (Bienie, Bou & Boontje). Today was the big 12 week echo.
Having this echo was a blast!!
Now it looks like a mini human being, it even was groing a nose. A big head, little body all curled up waving at times, had some hick-ups. The heartbeat really makes you go weak in the knees.
Most importantly, the neksomething (which they mesure) was only 0.6 cm, according to the echoscopist it was as thin as they get (how thicker it is, the more possibillity the kid will develope down syndrom).

During the echo it was first a little bit balled up, later on it stretched out so we could clearly see the legs and the echo-lady quickly messured one little foot which is allready 1 cm long!
isn’t that the coolest?!
After the echo’s she gathered all the info:
My age, 37 which makes the chance for down syndrom 1 out of 145
In combination with the hormone result and the nek thing it plumeted to 1 out of 2883!
She told me that now i stastistically had the age of 16/17 in lieu of 37! WHAHAHAHAHA so I’m a teenage pregnancy ROFL  :)

Well i guess you can understand me and the BF are EXSTATIC!!

Love n kisses
Team B3

Running for Cancer

Hi all,

My cousin is running for cancer, please read his message:

Hello Family and Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing to let you all know that I will be running the BostonMarathon this April as a member of the Dana-Farber Marathon ChallengeTeam. In doing so I will be joining a team of over 500 DFMC teammembers who are running the Boston Marathon in an effort to raise fundsfor the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Researchat Dana-Farber. The DFMC directs 100% of funds raised to the Barr Program, which enablesscientists at the leading edge of discovery to achieve better curerates and to enhance patients’ quality of life.

Raising money for Cancer research is a very passionate cause forme. I am an employee of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, so I get tosee the amazing work that the folks here do everyday. Also, like somany of you, I have friends, family, and co-workers who have beenimpacted by Cancer. Most significantly for me is the fact that my mother was diagnosed with Cancer a few months ago, and iscurrently undergoing treatment at Dana-Farber. My mother, Michele, isan otherwise healthy 54 year old woman. It’s scary how indiscriminatethis disease is, and unfortunately there is currently no way to predictor prevent Cancer. The money I raise by running this marathon will provide criticalfunds which are absolutely necessary to allow for the scientists in theBarr Program at Dana-Farber to perform groundbreaking Cancer researchthat will hopefully lead to treatment breakthroughs in the future.

On race day, April 21st, I will be pinning amemorial banner on my running shirt, featuring names of anyone whom mysupporters wish for me to run in honor of, or in memory of. If you wishto have a friend or loved-one included on my list, that will travel all26.2 miles with me on race day, please send me an email and I will besure to add their names!

Running the Boston Marathon will not be easy forme. The longest I have ever run previously is 13.1 miles, in a halfmarathon. I have just started my training and am already beginning torealize what a long distance 26.2 miles really is. If you need anotherreason to donate, do it for the pain I will endure while pounding thepavement over the next several months!

My personal fundraising commitment is $7,000!I will need all of your support and generosity to get there. So please, forward this email on to anyone you know who might want to supportCancer research! There is power in numbers, and together we can make a difference in fighting Cancer.

Going forward, I will keep you all periodicallyupdated on my training and fundraising progress. I hope that you allwill support Dana-Farber by giving a gift to my run and, in doing so,help bring us closer to the end of the challenge of Cancer!

Thank you all so much,

-Greg Lord
